Group Director of Finance

3 Days Uxbridge/2 Days Remote – Some UK Travel

£90-95kpa + 22.8% pension + Car allowance +

Our client is a long-established organisation providing procurement and technical services across the construction sector. Operating regionally across the UK, the organisation supports public sector clients and contractors to deliver community-focused building projects.

Its core mission is to enhance lives and places through high-quality procurement solutions, with key priorities around operational excellence, community impact, and a strong, people-centred culture.

They are in the middle of a major transformation affecting all business operations to make them more efficient and require a FD to support the CFO strategically and to deliver operational finance.

Role Purpose

The Group Director of Finance plays a critical role in leading the Finance function and partnering with the wider organisation to ensure strong financial management, strategic insight, and continuous improvement.

This role will focus on delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, embedding robust planning and analysis processes, and driving efficiencies through better systems and controls.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead all financial operations including ac counting, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cash flow.
• Oversee the annual financial and tax planning cycle, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and improve financial policies, controls, and risk management strategies.
• Implement a comprehensive FP&A framework to support strategic decision-making.
• Deliver insightful financial analysis and clear reporting aligned to organisational goals.
• Work closely with business units to align financial planning with operational objectives.
• Manage relationships with auditors, tax authorities, and financial institutions.
• Drive improvements in financial systems and reporting tools.
• Lead and develop a high-performing Finance team.
• Support payroll and pension compliance in collaboration with HR.
• Represent Finance in wider organisational projects and working groups.

Person Specification

Experience:
• Significant experience in a senior finance leadership role (e.g., Head of Finance, Finance Director).
• Proven track record in financial planning, reporting, and transformation.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, compliance, and risk management.
• Experience managing audits and regulatory reporting.
• Skilled in leading and developing teams.
• Proficient in using financial systems to support decision-making.
• Multi-Sector experience preferred to include (Charity or Not-for-Profit) and Commercial such as Construction or Procurement

Skills & Abilities:

• Able to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Self-starter with strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise.

Qualifications:
• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
• Knowledge of accounting standards and frameworks (e.g., Companies House, Charity Commission).
• A Master’s in Finance, Business or Economics is desirable.

Additional Information
• Standard hours: 36 per week; some flexibility required during peak periods.
