Our client is a not-for-profit organisation that provides a digital framework for the procurement of services (construction and refurbishment of housing and other buildings across the public sector). Like G Cloud, Suppliers are pre-tendered, and organisations can advertise their project requirements on there.
They are 70+ strong and once part of a London Borough Local Authority, operating independently, but now a separate entity since 2023. Their Unique Selling Point is that with surplus profits, they make Charitable donations.
Last November a new CFO joined to be part of their senior leadership team to make the business operations more efficient so that the customer journey is optimised, the business is scaled, and they can maximise the revenue they generate to plough into charitable causes. A renewed commercial mindset is being delivered but with social purpose driving the outcome.
As part of the Transformation, we are currently recruiting a Director of IT and Transformation (DoITT) to improve the Technology landscape, scale the operational side of the business and to make more digital and automated in future.
In addition to that we are looking for a PMO/Project Manager on a 12-month FTC basis to run the PMO but also to deliver a number of inflight projects. This person will do a handover and work closely with the outgoing Head of Transformation and then repost into the DoITT. They are looking for someone that has experience running a PMO and delivering projects as a Project Manager .
The department has 2 small teams; Technology and Transformation viewed as BAU and Projects respectively. Within Technology they mostly support the existing systems and Transformation is about new applications and processes to help them now and future state projects.
They are in the process of moving away from disparate systems and patchwork technology to a fully Microsoft ecosystem with D365 being at the heart of it with PowerApps, Azure and so on. Other core systems for Procurement, HR and Finance all need reviewing in due course to optimise or replace or put into D365. Automation and AI need to be used to speed up tasks and move away from manual processes.
The PMO/Project Manager will need to get to grips with how projects are updated and tracked and pick up the running of this, understanding how progress is recorded. They will also then work with the Head of Transformation to pick up inflight projects. The largest high priority is a customer portal being scoped and delivered by a 3rd party Consultancy using D365. This will require due diligence on the requirements and the proposal and see through to delivery. Other projects will be MS based tech projects including Power Apps, security, data, reporting and governance and other non-technical business projects.
You will also be commercially minded but be motivated by the social purpose. A blend of experience in the commercial + not-for-profit/charity/public sector is desired. Any exposure to the Construction Industry/Housing/Procurement sectors in addition to that would be nice to have.
