Our client is a market leading provider of software products used for Enterprise Migration projects across Europe and the US. Their email migration tool alone is award winning and has been used in 43 countries. Whilst they look to maximise the market coverage of their existing products, they are also proactively looking to their future prosperity and are in the early stages of researching and developing new Cloud Migration products using latest technology across Cloud, Software Development, AI and Machine Learning. To support their ambitions, they are seeking a new CTO to help drive this forward.

This is an exciting opportunity because whilst they know what they want to build (all inhouse potentially with some niche partners) they are very early into their journey for this and need a CTO to help them explore the best technology to achieve their goals. They know it will be Cloud based, will use true AI and Machine Learning and will be Microsoft based due to their existing product tech stack and they will expect to use Containerisation, Serverless Architecture, NoSQL, Kubernetes, Automation and other technology, but the CTO will be driving this from the beginning. They have looked at their current competition and want to take their products further providing data wisdom.

As CTO you will focus on the technology team covering software engineering, architecture, and support but working closing with Product Management/Ownership.  You will be part of the Senior Leadership team with CMO, CEO and CFO. The Technology area will expand with impending recruitment.

Initially you will oversee the maintenance and stability of their existing products which still have legacy code, but quite quickly you will be working across the business to continue the research and then make decisions on technology stack and strategy for the new products. Once built, then you will be part of the team launching these across Europe and the US.

To secure this role, you don’t need to be an existing CTO although current CTO’s are very welcome. You could be in another strategic/technical role as Head of Engineering and/or Architecture but ready to bring all your experience together into a CTO role.

Experience required:

  • Engineering/Software Development and Architecture background.

  • Strategic but still technical

  • Have lead Engineering teams previously

  • Have worked for a Software Company that build and sell Cloud based Products and ideally SaaS

  • Excited about the ambition and challenge to build something inhouse and improve on what the current market offers, but also happy to keep on top of the existing products providing key revenue.

  • You will have an MS Technology stack so C#, SQL Server and Azure and had exposure/experience with Kubernetes, Containerisation, automation, NoSQL, Serverless architecture, open to new technology and perhaps have some breadth with AWS and/or GCP.

  • Good awareness of data migration projects would be a bonus

  • You will lead with trust in your team to get on and deliver their roles and collaboration is highly valued here.

  • You will continually update yourself with what is going on in the market, familiar with MS Viva plans, Power Apps, any emerging/improving technologies.

Built on solid foundations, this role gives you the opportunity to drive something new for this organisation and the overall market giving you a chance to explore and implement leading edge technology to solve business problems. This role is remote. There will be some meetups with the senior leadership team which could be anywhere in the UK. They happen to be more Southwest based, but this is not a limit on the role as meetings could be anywhere. They need the right skills and person to join them at this exciting stage.
